About Mary Acton
Mary Acton has worked on the conservation and restoration of ceramics, glass and related materials since the mid-80s. Her work has included many important private and public collections including the National Trust, the Butler collection, the Historical Houses Assocation, Val Pitt-Rivers and Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer.
While completing a two-year full-time, post graduate diploma in Ceramic Conservation from the internationally-renowned West Dean College affiliated to British Antique Dealers Association, Mary undertook an internship at the British Museum and also lectured at Lewes Adult Education Centre in the Care and Conservation of Ceramics. She set up her own business in Dorset in 1990.
In 2002 she gained accreditation with ICON (The Institute of Conservation) which sets quality benchmarks and is used to define standards in conservation.
Mary Acton has a diverse range of national and international clients including many heritage organisations and institutes as well as private collectors. Mary has been instrumental in preparing major collections for international exhibitions.
Maryβs workshop offers the highest standard of professional work. Both large and small commissions are undertaken.
